About 10 minutes out of town we started noticing all these motorbikes coming back drenched, as if they'd jumped into a river rather than get caught in the rain. Joseph and I looked at eachother a little concerned, but said, "hey, it's probably not that bad. We can drive beyond the rain." Our rest-filled bodies were pretty ready for an adventure and we continued to drive. Within 10 more minutes our car was drenched and the sky looked pretty menacing. We looked at eachother again and decided to turn back and drive a different direction. We got a quick whine from Anna who HATES turning around. We haven't quite figured out why but think it has something to do with 'losing' and 'having to go back home.' After we assured her we weren't headed home, we drove off in another direction. Rain. We turned around and went in a different direction. Rain.
Pretty soon it became obvious that our great idea of a picnic had definately been rained out. Americans are not easily deterred so we decided the salvage the best we could of our big rush of energy and decided to picnic . . . on our living room floor, on top of a blanket, to make it at least FEEL like a picnic. As we ate our sandwiches and munched on pringles, we watched the rain pour down right outside our house.
