Mati Lampu Sing-Along

Tonight was our first Friday back home and we were looking forward to it when right at 6 o'clock, all the lights died. Mati Lampu literally means 'dead light'. This could mean black-out anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours or even up to 5 hours. And this place gets pretty hot, pretty fast, especially without any fans. We opted to spend the evening outside, under our grape vine, in our new lawn furniture (yeah plastic chairs!). Within a few minutes we had Anna giggling and doing the motions along with 'The Itsy Bitsty Spider' and 'My God is so Big!' At that point the Sing-Along started. Joseph would start one and then Lindsey would choose one, and we went back and forth singing worship songs for a good hour or so. What started out as downer Friday night ended up as an unplanned, fun family time: just the 3 of us, sitting under a grape vine, watching the stars, singing together, and listening to Anna's precious little laugh and sweet little voice as she tried to sing along. I guess even Mati Lampus can be a good thing!
